hey guys welcome back to the financial freedom channel so today Instagram Instagram is the topic of the day we’re going to explore how to grow on Instagram so you know I’ve been hearing from Gary Vee for months and months and months that the cheapest attention on the internet right now is on Instagram okay that’s that’s where you need to be if if you want to have eyeballs on your brand on your business so recently I opened to Instagram accounts a couple days I opened a strong man HQ account on Instagram because I’m starting up a t-shirt brand for strong man the second one I opened was an Instagram account called food forest designer now you know some of you might know I go way back with permaculture I’ve been interested in permaculture for about 12 years now and so I’ve really been wanting to get back into permaculture and so I decided okay I’m going to set up an Instagram account related to permaculture to start to build that that online presence my my goal with that is to consult for people who have large land parcels they want to you know grow a lot of food they want to you know have ponds and increase their water supply and just create a permaculture sustainable paradise on their land so I’m real passionate about that so I’ve got these two Instagram accounts set up and I want to talk about what I’m doing to grow them so the one I started about four days ago which is food forest designer I have a hundred and fifty five followers over that four days okay so and then on the strong man HQ I’ve got 33 followers and I I launched that less than two days ago around midnight on well Wednesday night midnight Wednesday night and so I want to talk about the strategies I’m using to grow my follower base to expand my attention reach through these Instagram accounts so Geary V he was like eight months ago he talked about a strategy called the dollar the one dollar 80 cent strategy so essentially what that is it’s kind of clever you’re giving your two cents on the top nine posts under a hashtag so a hashtag that’s related to your to your brand so take take strong man HQ for example so if I type the hashtag strong man I’ll see I’ll see a bunch of other hashtags that are related to strong man you know there’s a strong man fitness there’s CrossFit there’s you know just fitness which is is a huge niche so there’s all these different hashtags that are related to the strongman hashtag so what I’ll do is I’ll compile the top ten hashtags that are relevant for my Instagram account strong me on HQ and each day I’ll search that hashtag and I can see the top nine posts that are related to that hashtag so I go into each post and I leave a thoughtful comment on you know if it’s a video I’ll leave a comment on something that touched me as I watched the video or if it’s a photo I’ll just comment on the photo another thing I’ll do you know if people ask a question in the comments often the content creator won’t actually answer that question which you know isn’t definitely not a best practice for instagramers who want to grow their accounts it’s really important to engage with your community so that gives me an opportunity to go in there and answer their question provide a thoughtful answer to their question another thing you could do if you seek it’s that you like you can hit that heart button next to the comment I believe that sends a notification to the person who left the comment so you know they’ll see you hearted their comment they may go to your account and check you out so that’s that’s another approach so you’ve got the top nine posts with from each hashtag that you’re leaving a comment on you’re contributing to the community in that post so you do that for all nine posts in a hashtag and then you know the rest the other nine hashtags you do that on each of the top nine posts so that’s 90 posts that you’re engaging with leaving comments heart saying comments that you like 90 posts leaving your two cents on 90 posts so that’s that’s the dollar eighty strategy it’s just two cents times ninety so that’s effectively what I’ve been doing to to build my followers on these platforms you know there’s admittedly what I started doing before I really thought through this on my food forest designer account is I tried to find the top people on Instagram in the permaculture community and I would I looked at their followers right and I’d go and I’d follow them right I quickly found out you can only follow about 20 people before you know Instagram doesn’t let you follow anymore because they know that’s approach that’s an approach that people have used on Instagram in the past is for someone to just follow a bunch of people knowing that a certain number are going to follow them back obviously that that’s not a great way to like have a community of followers that actually engage with your content you know you know people who grow their Instagram accounts super fast yeah they may have a lot of followers but they’re not followers that care about you or what you’re doing they’re just it’s just a number on the screen so you know I learned quickly from that I’m not doing that anymore blindly following people to try to build up my followers so the approach I’m really using is you know engage with people in in some of the more viral or or better performing posts right those are the top posts that are gonna come to the top when you search the hashtag yeah so that’s that’s what I’m doing guys find I’ll leave below my food forest designer Instagram name and my strongman HQ name one last thing so when you’re getting started you might not have a lot of content to to put on your on your page right that can be kind of a slower you know as time goes on process of rolling out content so one thing I did on the food forest designer page actually on both pages is I would find content that I really like that’s really relevant to to the kind of content that I’m gonna be putting out right I’ll find that and what you can do I downloaded this app called repost and you can actually take a video that that’s doing really well that that resonates with the kind of the kind of community that you want to build and you can copy that video and post it on your Instagram of course you’ll give an attribution to the original content creator both on the image repost allows you to put it right on the image and underneath in the description you can have the little movie icon and then at you know whoever whoever posted that content originally so that’s a great way to get started on Instagram when when you haven’t generated content yet so I did I put nine I found nine top videos or top images related to my my niche I put those up in the first day right and that’s a good way so when people come to your page they say you’ve got some content already and that that makes them much more likely to engage obviously they can’t engage with your content if you don’t have content so you know borrowing top content from people who are really rocking it in your niche is a great way to get started and you can see that if you go to both of my Instagram accounts below you can kind of get a sense for for how I’m doing it last tip I’ll give is so when you put content out when you create a post on Instagram whether it’s a photo or a video it’s important to really be thoughtful about the hashtags that you associate with that post because that’s how Instagram knows how to what content to serve up you know if you know people are searching a particular topic like fitness or permaculture or whatever it is it’s going to be a lot easier for Instagram to serve up your content if you have the relevant hashtags in that post and a tip i’ve been getting is instead of putting the hashtags in the description of the description of your post you can leave a comment you can leave the first comment on your post and actually just put the hashtags in that first comment so it’s it’s separate from from your description yeah so that’s that’s kind of what I’ve learned so far guys I’ll keep you posted I’m gonna be posting a lot actually about Instagram because I’m just super excited about that space in terms of leveraging people’s attention putting out content growing growing an online presence through Instagram that’s I’m really excited about that space so you’ll be hearing a lot more about how my
